SURFERS PARADISE FIRE & RESCUE FIRE STATION

Officially received the keys for their new BRONTO 44 Metre TLP (Fleet 1020)

The new Bronto is based on a Scania cab chassis with a Bronto 44 metre TLP, which is currently the largest TLP used by any fire service in Australia.

The Bronto F44 RLX erx, has a maximum working height of 44 metres (vertical) and a maximum side outreach of 27 metres (horizontal). The cage has a maximum load of 500kg and has wheel chair access. Operational duties include life rescue & water tower via the remote control monitor. This appliance has its own pump, which can deliver 4000 litres of water per minute.

A CCS-Cobra cutting extinguisher is also installed on the TLP. It is capable of cutting through 150mm of concrete & delivers 50 litres of water per minute @ 300 Bar (over 200 metres per second) from its own on board tank. This allows water to be applied from the outside of a building or structure, helping to provide a safer environment before entry by firefighters. From Sweden, this is the second unit for QFRS. The Bronto replaces a 25 yr old appliance.
